Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. will return to the world of exhibition boxing on August 24, when he faces John Gotti III in a highly anticipated rematch of their June 2023 fight.
Date: Saturday, August 24.
Time: 8 p.m. CST.
Venue: Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Since his retirement from professional boxing in 2017, Mayweather has participated in a series of exhibition bouts, with his first major event being a fight against boxing standout Conor McGregor, which proved to be a resounding success.
This time, Mayweather will once again face John Gotti III. Their first bout was stopped by referee Kenny Bayless due to a disqualification of Gotti for repeated grappling. Despite the penalty, the fight continued and resulted in a loud altercation in the ring, which led to Gotti receiving a six-month suspension.
The fight will consist of 8 rounds of 2 minutes each and there will be no judges on this occasion.
As an interesting detail, John Gotti III is the grandson of the infamous New York mobster John Gotti, head of the Gambino family.
The feud between Mayweather and Gotti III, ignited by the tumultuous first meeting, promises to make this an evening full of excitement. The odds favor "Money" Mayweather, while Gotti III is considered the underdog in this fight.
