Lazio defeated Monza with a convincing 5-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, reaffirming their good momentum in Serie A. With a solid game and without giving options to their opponents, the team led by Maurizio Sarri took three key points that keep them in the fight for the Champions League places.
At the other end of the scale, Monza has still not found its way and remains at the bottom of the table, adding another defeat to a season to forget.
Lazio Imposed Conditions From The Start
From the very first minute, Lazio made clear its intention to dominate the match. With possession and a well-organized attack, the locals took control of the game and began to generate danger in the opponent's area. Monza, on the other hand, opted for a tight defense, trying to resist the Roman team's attacks.
However, Lazio's pressure was rewarded after the half-hour mark. In the 31st minute, Adam Marušić took advantage of a cross into the box and, after a touch from Taty Castellanos, connected with a precise header to beat the opposing goalkeeper and put 1-0 on the scoreboard. This goal reflected what was seen on the pitch: a dominant Lazio and an unresponsive Monza.
Despite the lead, the home side suffered a setback with the injury of Boulaye Dia, which forced a premature substitution. Pedro Rodríguez came on in his place and ended up being a key player in the development of the match. With the score in their favor, Lazio managed the rest of the first half calmly, controlling the ball and preventing Monza from creating danger.
The Gale of Goals in the Second Half
If in the first half Lazio had been superior, in the second half it was Lazio's turn to put the game to bed in a resounding manner. Just 57 minutes in, Pedro widened the gap after receiving a filtered pass and finishing with great quality in a one-on-one against the goalkeeper.
The home team did not slow down and, just six minutes later, struck again. This time, Taty Castellanos was in charge of scoring the third after a collective play in which Zaccagni assisted him inside the area for the striker to score calmly.
With the game completely tilted in their favor, Lazio continued to look for more goals and found the fourth goal in the 77th minute. Pedro, who had already scored, completed his brace with a shot inside the box after a great combination with Tchaouna and Noslin. The difference was already overwhelming and Monza had no reaction.
The visiting team managed to pull one back in the 86th minute with a penalty goal scored by Stefano Sensi, but the illusion was short-lived. Lazio did not let their opponents finish on a positive note and, just two minutes later, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru sealed the score with the fifth goal for the home side, making clear the absolute dominance of the Roman team.

Lazio consolidates its position in the table
With this victory, Lazio reaches 45 points and remains in fourth place in Serie A, a key position that would give them access to the next edition of the Champions League. Sarri's team has shown solidity in the last few rounds and seems determined to fight until the end to stay in the top of the table.
Monza, on the other hand, continues to sink to last place with just 13 points from 24 games. The season has been an ordeal for the team, which has not been able to find a way to reverse its bad streak. Lack of attacking punch and constant defensive errors have been their biggest problem, and if they fail to improve in the next few games, relegation seems inevitable.
Lazio have made it clear that they are still in the fight for the European places with a resounding victory. Now, they are preparing for their next challenge against Napoli, a match that will be key to their Serie A aspirations. Monza, on the other hand, will try to react when they host Lecce at their stadium, although their outlook is getting more and more complicated.
