In a convincing 12-2 victory over the New York Yankees, the Chicago White Sox earned their first win under interim manager Grady Sizemore, snapping a discouraging streak of 24 losses in their last 25 games.
This win was significant for the White Sox, coming after they had struggled to make an impact under the leadership of Sizemore, who had seen his team lose the first two games since his appointment.
Sheets with Four Hits and Four Runs Batted In
Gavin Sheets was instrumental in the White Sox success, matching his career best with four hits and producing four runs. Sheets' performance was highlighted by a series of impactful hits, including run-scoring doubles in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
He also contributed by scoring in the seventh inning on a single by Dominic Fletcher and adding another run with a single in the eighth inning.
Korey Lee and Brooks Baldwin also played crucial roles in the game. Lee connected on a solo home run to start the fourth inning against Yankees starter Luis Gil, contributing a two-run inning.
Baldwin, meanwhile, capped a six-run inning in the seventh with a three-run home run against Enyel De Los Santos that extended the White Sox lead to a commanding 11-2.
The White Sox offensive performance set season highs in runs scored and hits, with the team totaling 12 runs and 18 hits.
This offensive explosion followed a challenging streak where the White Sox had lost three consecutive games, including a 21-game losing streak that matched an American League record before their recent win against the Oakland Athletics.
On the mound, White Sox rookie Ky Bush made his second major league start of the season. Major League Baseballallowing two runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. Despite struggling with control, evidenced by his seven walks and 97 pitches, Bush managed to limit the damage.
Touki Toussaint provided relief, recording four outs after Bush's out and winning the game in the process.

Challenges for the Yankees
On the other side, the Yankees faced multiple challenges during the game. Aaron Judge, who connected on a run-producing double in the first inning, came close to reaching his 300th career home run but came up short with a fly to the warning track in the second inning.
The Yankees struggled throughout the game, going 2-for-18 with runners in scoring position and leaving 16 runners on base. Starter Luis Gil had a tough performance, allowing four runs and seven hits in four innings while awarding two bases on balls.
New York also experienced a setback with the injury to third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who left the game with a left elbow injury after a headfirst dive while scoring in the fifth inning. Chisholm was scheduled for an MRI, although initial tests were reported positive.
As for player availability, White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. received a day off after the team had a scheduled day off on Sunday. Robert had previously missed two months during the season due to a right hip flexor strain.
Upcoming Meetings
Looking ahead, the Yankees have left-hander Nestor Cortes scheduled to take the mound for their next game. Cortes, with a 5-10 record and a 4.42 ERA, looks to bounce back from a recent rough performance in which he allowed six runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angelinos.
Meanwhile, White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon will be the starter, looking to build on his previous performance where he pitched six innings against the Athletics, helping the team end its 21-game losing streak.
