Madrid is the strongest soccer brand in Spain
Barcelona may be the club that added the most points in scoring strength this season, with plenty of help from their league title win, but the rankings are still led by Real Madrid. Barcelona's biggest rivals have a comfortable lead in the Spanish rankings.
A study by a British market research and consulting firm specializing in the interaction between sports teams and fans measured up to 15 brand parameters. These included sporting success, media interest, club management, the attractiveness of the team's play and the branding of its players and coaches.
From weekly surveys conducted among fans, it can be deduced that Barcelona has improved its brand strength among fans by 4.9 points. This is not surprising, given that the team was the champion of the Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey this season.
However, despite its gains, it is still behind Real Madrid. It had a coefficient of 53.4 points, Barcelona only had 30.9.
