Women's League 2023 has its first Colombian finalists

The 2023 Women's League is underway and is now beginning to determine who will make the final run for the title. Two teams from Colombia have qualified, with more to follow in the coming days.

Independiente Santa Fe shines

Independiente Santa Fe became the first finalist of the Women's League 2023, defeating Atlético Nacional 4-0 at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium in Bogotá, for the second leg of the semifinals of the tournament, which reaches its final round. The team also secured its qualification for the next Copa Libertadores Femenina.

Wednesday's match was quite even in the first half, although the team coached by Omar Ramirez got on the scoreboard with goals by Liana Salazar in the 12th and 43rd minutes, both from the penalty spot, beating goalkeeper Vanessa Cordoba.

During the second 45 minutes, the locals had more confidence in their game and gave the final push to the Antioquian team very quickly. First Delly Lucero Robayo in the 54th minute with the third of the evening and three minutes later Sofia Garcia for the 4-0, which would later end the match.

With this, Independiente Santa Fe is once again in the final of Colombian women's soccer, where they will play in their fourth final in search of their third star. They also secured their participation in the next Women's Libertadores Cup in 2023, to be held in October in Colombia.

America de Cali follows suit

Meanwhile, América de Cali, also with two crowns in the tournament, made their home ground respected and defeated Pereira with authority with a convincing 4-0, which finally ended with a 7-2 aggregate in favor of the 'devils'.

The Scarlet team's goals came from Mariana Muñoz, Catalina Usme, Karen Daniela Castellanos and Diana Ospina. In the end, both teams finished with 10 players after the expulsions of Mariana Zamorano and Vanessa Franco.

The Valle del Cauca club features Daniela Arias, a central defender who is also part of the Colombian team, and Karen Daniela Castellanos, an attacking midfielder who has earned a place in what is surely the strongest team in the championship.

The end of the line

The 2023 Women's League is reaching its final phase and with América and Santa Fe having reached the final this season, this edition of Colombian women's soccer is coming to an end. While the next champion of the Women's League is being defined, Colombia has already defined its three qualified teams for the Copa Libertadores to be played in October in Colombian territory.

América, Santa Fe and Atlético Nacional became Colombia's representatives in the continental competition, remembering that the scarlet and lionesses achieved it thanks to the fact that they are finalists, while the verdolaga will participate by reclassification.

With the teams ready for the Women's Libertadores, Colombia is beginning to define the stadiums that will host the competition and in this regard, the city of Cali sent a notification to CONMEBOL to host the final of the international tournament, information confirmed by the city's sports secretary, Carlos Diago Alzate to 'Deportes Sin Tabujos'.
