Dominican Towns Quoted in the NBA

Minnesota Timberwolves Dominican Republic star Karl-Anthony Towns is rumored to be one of the big trades of the NBA free agent market.

All indications are that Minnesota is already in talks with teams such as the Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors.

There is a List of Teams Interested in the Dominican KAT

Towns averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season, shooting 49.5% from the field, 36.6% from beyond the arc and 87.4% from the free throw line.

The three-time NBA All-Star signed a four-year, $224.2 million veteran designated player contract extension with the Timberwolves in July 2022.

Minnesota has not advanced past the first round of the playoffs in the Towns era, which began in the 2015-16 season.

Many NBA fans are keeping an eye on Towns' future with the Timberwolves after he signed a five-year max contract extension that could be worth as much as $260 million for Anthony Edwards.

NBA insiders believe Towns is a player who has flown under the radar in free agency but could be a big issue at the February 2024 trade deadline.

Several analysts believe it is a matter of time before the news is announced. This news would give Towns a partial exit to join another team with more winning potential than the Timberwolves have shown in recent seasons.

For some experts, the Knicks could be one of the teams to which the Dominican could arrive. If that were the case, New York could line up Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, Towns and Mitchell Robinson.

Edwards Does Not Want Towns to Leave Minnesota

Anthony Edwards does not want the Timberwolves to trade Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert.

Towns and Gobert did not have a good matchup last season, as the Timberwolves had a record of just 14-13 when KAT and Gobert played together.

However, Edwards, one of the best players in the NBA, enjoys playing with both centers. For Edwards, neither player should leave the team.

In a recent interview about the team's future, Edwards could not deny his sincere appreciation for both players and commented that neither should leave Minnesota.

Timberwolves legend and former NBA champion with the Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett said Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns should learn from the mistakes he made more than 20 years ago.

Garnett said that when he and talented scoring guard Stephon Marbury couldn't find a way to make the dynamic work for the team, they looked elsewhere.

Garnett added that when his chemistry with Steph didn't work out, Paul Pierce was his accomplice in the league. However, both players didn't make it in Minnesota. It wasn't until they came to Boston and were joined by Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen that it all worked out.

With Edwards and Towns under long-term contracts, the Timberwolves will have plenty of time to make it work.

With quality pieces like Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley and Kyle Anderson to provide depth to the team, the Timberwolves may end up being better next season than most people realize.

But if the partnership between Edwards and Towns reaches a new level, as Kevin Garnett hopes it will, the league will have to watch.
