In the NBA world, nothing lasts forever. There are always deals in the works, especially as the league begins to approach a new season. The Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks are negotiating trades as they look to develop a winning combination of players.
Pacers need help
The Pacers have realized the need to strengthen their power forward position. Over the past year or so, the Pacers extensively scouted numerous contemporary NBA starters, including Tobias Harris, Harrison Barnes and the formidable duo of Pascal Siakam and O.G. Annoby. As of now, Indiana has initiated discussions about a potential trade involving Siakam. The team anticipates that such a move would undoubtedly improve their overall performance, albeit to varying degrees.
Despite being the Philadelphia 76ers' fourth option in the offensive lineup last year, Harris, 30, managed to average 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. This improvement in his shooting skills was evident as he posted a 38.9% success rate from three-point range.
Barnes, at 31 years old, continues to be a reliable athlete on the court, maintaining a consistent performance by scoring an average of 15 points and securing 4.5 rebounds per game during his previous season with the Sacramento Kings. Impressively, he showed accuracy from the three-point line with a 37.4% shooting percentage.
While he may not possess flashy skills, Barnes proves his worth as a reliable and talented player. On the other hand, Anunoby, who is 25 years old, perfectly embodies the archetype of the modern NBA 3D wing. His ability to contribute in various aspects of the game is admirable, as evidenced by his impressive averages of 16.8 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal per game.
While Barnes and Harris are expected to contribute as Indiana's youthful supporting cast, and Anunoby complements the team's experienced timeline, it's worth noting that Siakam, a two-time All-Star who is currently 29 years old, deviates from the Pacers' picks. While losing Siakam would be consequential, it's important to recognize that his best years don't align with the team's strategies.

Mavericks pick up Curry
The Mavericks have secured the services of experienced shooter Seth Curry, who has committed to a two-year deal. The 32-year-old has managed to maintain an average of 9.2 points and 1.6 assists while playing for approximately 19.9 minutes per game. This individual has proven to be an outstanding asset for the Brooklyn Nets, not only excelling as a triple threat, but also racking up an impressive 1.5 rebounds per game while successfully converting 40.5 percent of his shots.
In the 2022-2023 season, a significant number of shots taken by this player resulted in an impressive 59.7% field goal shooting percentage when catching the ball and shooting it. In addition, it is worth noting that almost half of his attempts, exactly 49%, witnessed a quick release within two seconds of catching the ball.
As the Nets embark on their initial offseason following the trade involving Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, their future remains uncertain. Parting ways with such high-caliber players usually requires a rebuilding period, however, Brooklyn faces a formidable obstacle in the form of the Houston Rockets, who currently own the majority of their first-round assets.
Despite completing a full season, Curry's shooting from the perimeter remains below 40%, but he has a substantial number of productive years ahead of him, at least that's what Dallas hopes.
